# Add-ons & extras <Badge type="tip" text="Growth+" />

Add-ons & extras let travellers add things to their trip at checkout: airport transfers, gear rental, meals, photos, travel insurance or a single-room upgrade. It raises the value of every booking without extra admin, and you can ask a question per extra, such as shoe size.

::: info At a glance
- **Plan:** Growth and Scale
- **Category:** Sales
- **Where:** Console › Plugins › Add-ons & extras, and Tours › Add-ons & extras
:::

## How it works

**What the traveller sees**

- On the booking form, a section of extras under your heading (by default "Add to your trip").
- Travel insurance appears first as "Protect your trip". Upgrades keep their own heading.
- For extras with a daily stock, "3 left" shows once five or fewer remain on the chosen date.
- If an extra has a question, they answer it when adding the extra. A required question must be answered before paying.
- Each extra appears as a line in the price breakdown.

**What your team sees**

**Tours › Add-ons & extras** lists your extras with their sales, plus extras revenue, attach rate and best seller. The answer to an extra's question is saved on the booking, e.g. "Shoe size: 42".

## Turn it on

1. Go to **Console › Plugins**.
2. Find **Add-ons & extras** and flip its switch on.
3. Open **Tours › Add-ons & extras** and select **Add extra**.

## Settings

| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Heading above the extras | Shown above your extras on the booking form. Insurance and upgrades keep their own headings. Up to 60 characters. | Add to your trip |
| Show how many are left | For extras with a daily stock, show "3 left" once five or fewer remain on the chosen date. | On |

## Add an extra

1. Go to **Tours › Add-ons & extras** and select **Add extra**.
2. Choose the **Type**:
   - **Extra**: transfers, gear rental, meals, photos…
   - **Insurance**: shown first as "Protect your trip".
   - **Upgrade**: single room, better hotel, private guide…
3. Enter the **Name** and an optional **Short description**.
4. Set the **Price** and how it is **Charged**:

   | Charged | Example |
   |---|---|
   | **Per booking** | Private airport pick-up for the group |
   | **Per traveller** | Trip cancellation cover |
   | **Per traveller, per night** | Single-room upgrade. Charged for each night of the trip (a 14-day trek has 13 nights). |
   | **Per item** | Travellers choose how many, e.g. 3 wetsuits for a group of 4 |

5. Set a **Quantity limit** if needed (how many one booking can add). Per-traveller extras are never more than the number of travellers.
6. Optionally set a **Daily stock**, shared by all bookings on the same date. Leave it empty for no limit.
7. Under **Available on**, choose **All tours** or **Selected tours**.
8. Optionally **Ask a question**, e.g. "Shoe size". Tick **Required** if travellers must answer before paying.
9. Select **Save**.

Extras are priced and sold in your main currency.

## Take an extra off sale

Use the extra's actions menu to take it **Off sale**. It disappears from checkout but keeps its sales history. Put it back **On sale** at any time.

::: info Price changes
Changes apply to new bookings. Past bookings keep what they paid.
:::

## Good to know

- Daily stock is claimed when the traveller checks out, so two travellers can't take the last item at the same time.
- Turning the plugin off removes extras from checkout. Your extras and past orders are kept.
- For full hotel rooms with check-in dates and rooming lists, use [Hotel booking](./hotel-booking) instead of an upgrade.
